Why the directory name matters
Chrome can show a color and a short label while the on-disk folder is still named Profile 1. If DockSpark and Chrome disagree about that folder, the wrong session can open. Use Default for the first Chrome profile, then Profile 1, Profile 2, and so on, unless Chrome shows a different directory.
The same pattern for Chromium-based browsers
Microsoft Edge, Brave Browser, Vivaldi, Opera, Opera GX, Chromium, and Arc follow a similar profile-directory model. Create the profile in the browser first, then add the matching directory in DockSpark. Safari uses its own profile workflow, and Firefox uses profiles.ini or Profile Group metadata, but the Dock hover gesture is the same.
Private and incognito from the same panel
The Dock panel can also open a private or incognito window, so a throwaway session does not have to start from a browser menu. Use a named profile when you need saved accounts; use private browsing when you do not.
If the wrong Chrome identity opens
If the hover panel opens the wrong Chrome session, check whether DockSpark has the directory name or only the friendly label. Chrome can show Work while the folder is still Profile 1. Recent DockSpark releases can detect directories; if it is still wrong, compare chrome://version or the profile folder, then refresh or re-add it before trying the Dock again.
