## Current scope

DockSpark 0.4.0 supports Safari, Firefox, and eight Chromium-based browsers: Google Chrome, Chromium, Microsoft Edge, Brave Browser, Vivaldi, Opera, Opera GX, and Arc. Follow the [release notes](/release-notes) for browser support updates. For Chrome directory names and Dock setup, see the [Chrome profiles guide](/guide/chrome-profiles).

Safari can open profiles and a private window from the same hover panel. Firefox can switch named profiles and open global Private Browsing. Chromium-based browsers switch named profiles from the Dock after you create the profile in the browser and add its directory—usually `Default`, `Profile 1`, or `Profile 2`—in DockSpark. Recent releases can auto-detect Google Chrome directories and keep display names separate from folder names.

New installations show Safari plus installed copies of Google Chrome and Firefox in the sidebar by default. Other supported Chromium browsers can be added from the app list in the lower-left corner.

Keep the browser icon in the Dock; DockSpark attaches to that icon, not to Launchpad or Spotlight. Profile isolation—cookies, history, and extensions—still belongs to the browser. DockSpark only asks it to open the identity you picked.

## Firefox notes

Firefox support currently targets the standard Firefox release, not Firefox Developer Edition or Nightly. DockSpark can detect profiles from legacy `profiles.ini` and current Profile Group metadata, and keeps custom display names separate from the real profile path. Profile discovery may require Full Disk Access; if no profile metadata can be read, grant access, reopen DockSpark, and refresh.

If a listed browser is installed but the panel never appears, confirm Accessibility permission and that DockSpark is still running. See [troubleshooting](/docs/reference/troubleshooting) and [permissions](/docs/getting-started/permissions). Private or incognito windows from the same panel are covered in [private browsing](/docs/guides/private-browsing).
